Council Meeting

THAT the draft agenda presented to Council and dated the 12th day of January, 2021 be adopted with the changes to the order of agenda as follows: Adoption of the Agenda Declarations of Conflict of Interest Chairs Comments Accepting the minutes of the Previous Meeting(s) Business Arising from the Minutes

THAT the minutes of the Regular Council meeting held December 8th and the minutes of the Special Council meeting held December 15th, 2020 be adopted as circulated.

WHEREAS the Economic Development Committee recommended to Council to hire Karen Jones Consulting to plan a virtual event for 2021 in place of the East Ferris Trade show; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT Council approves of this recommendation.

WHEREAS the Economic Development introduced in 2020 the Business Show Cases and was proven to be successful; AND WHEREAS the Economic Development Committee recommended to Council to continue throughout the year on a more permanent basis to highlight the Businesses in our community; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT Council approves of this recommendation.

THAT Council for the Municipality of East Ferris declare the Office of Councillor to be vacant at the January 12th, 2021 Council Meeting.

THAT Council of the Municipality of East Ferris consider appointing a person to fill the vacancy on or before March 12th, 2021 (within 60 days of declaration).

WHEREAS Council for the Municipality of East Ferris deems it expedient to pass three readings of the following by-law at this session; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT a By-law to authorize temporary borrowing from time to time to meet current expenditures during the fiscal year ending December 31st, 2021 , BE READ a first, second and third time, passed and numbered 2021-01; AND THAT said by-law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk and sealed with the Seal of the Corporation.

WHEREAS Council for the Municipality of East Ferris deems it expedient to pass three readings of the following by-law at this session; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT a By-law to provide for Interim Tax Rates for the Year 2021 , BE READ a first, second and third time, passed and numbered 2021-02; AND THAT said by-law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk and sealed with the Seal of the Corporation.

WHEREAS Council for the Municipality of East Ferris deems it expedient to pass three readings of the following by-law at this session; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT a By-law to set Tax Ratios for the Municipality of East Ferris for the year 2021, BE READ a first, second and third time, passed and numbered 2021-03; AND THAT said by-law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk and sealed with the Seal of the Corporation.

THAT Council acknowledge the correspondence and information as circulated with the agenda and dated the 12th day of January, 2021.

THAT the Municipality of East Ferris supports the letter and resolution from the Region of Peel sent to the Minister of Finance regarding the Property Tax Exemptions for Veteran Clubs.

THAT the Council of the Municipality of East Ferris appoint Councillor Steven Trahan as the Deputy Mayor for the remaining term of Council.

THAT Deputy Mayor Steven Trahan be appointed as a signing officer for the Municipality of East Ferris for banking purposes.

THAT Council approve the 2021 Membership list as presented at the Regular Meeting of Council held January 12th, 2021.

THAT Council approve the general accounts for the Municipality of East Ferris as indicated in the cheque register(s) dated January 12th, 2021 in the amount of $1,007,741.06.

WHEREAS Council for the Municipality of East Ferris deems it expedient to pass three readings of the following by-law at this session; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT a By-law to confirm the proceedings of Council from December 8th, 2020 to January 12th, 2021, BE READ a first, second and third time, passed and numbered 2021-04; AND THAT said by-law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk and sealed with the Seal of the Corporation.
