Council Meeting

THAT the draft agenda presented to Council and dated the 12th day of March, 2024 be adopted as prepared.

THAT the Minutes of the Regular Council Meeting of February 27th, 2024 be adopted as circulated.

THAT Council for the Municipality of East Ferris will approve the removal of the restrictive covenant registered on title for 789 Highway 94, Corbeil, ON if the property owner makes an application to the Committee of Adjustment for a Minor Variance to recognize existing deficiencies AND THAT application is approved.

WHEREAS the Striking Committee recommends to Council that Stephanie Holmes' application to sit on the Planning Advisory Committee and Committee of Adjustment for the remaining 2022-2026 term of Council be approved; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that Council approves of this recommendation.

THAT By-law No. 2023-55 being a By-law to govern the proceedings of Council, Local Boards and Committees of either, the conduct of its members, the calling of meetings, and to establish rules of order, BE READ a third time and passed this 12th day of March, 2024; AND THAT said By-Law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk, and sealed with the Seal of the Corporation.

WHEREAS Council for the Municipality of East Ferris deems it expedient to pass three readings of the following by-law at this session; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT a By-law to repeal By-law No. 2021-61 BE READ a first, second and third time, passed and numbered 2024-11; AND THAT said by-law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk and sealed with the Seal of the Corporation.

THAT Council for the Municipality of East Ferris supports Resolution No. 2024-043 received from the Municipality of St. Charles regarding calling on the Province of Ontario's Ministry of Labour, Training, Immigration and Skilled Trades to fully fund the Municipal Equipment Operator Course in 2024 through the Skills Development Fund.

THAT Council for the Municipality of East Ferris supports Resolution No. RC-2024-23 received from the Town of Lincoln regarding urging the Provincial Government to support increased funding to both public libraries and community museums. Recognizing these institutions as national assets and strategically investing in their potential will contribute significantly to renewing post-pandemic social cohesion, economic well-being, and community resilience.

THAT Council approve the Correspondence and Information as circulated with the agenda of March 12th, 2024.

WHEREAS Section 284 of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O., c.25, as amended, requires that the Treasurer of a Municipality shall in each year on or before March 31 st provide to the Council of the municipality an itemized statement on remuneration and expenses paid in the previous year; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that Council for the Municipality of East Ferris accepts the 2023 Statement of Remuneration and Expenses itemized for each Member of Council and Member of Local Boards and Committees, as submitted.

THAT Council approve the general accounts for the Municipality of East Ferris as indicated in the cheque register(s) dated March 12th, 2024 in the amount of $700,560.99.

WHEREAS Council for the Municipality of East Ferris deems it expedient to pass three readings of the following by-law at this session; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT a By-law to confirm the proceedings of Council from February 27th, 2024 to March 12th, 2024, BE READ a first, second and third time, passed and numbered 2024-12; AND THAT said by-law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk and sealed with the Seal of the Corporation.
